Gary Brandenburg -

Gary is Digital Watershed's Information Design partner. Gary brings over twenty-five years experience in design, art, creative direction, content development and learning. He has developed projects across multiple channels — Web sites, software, print, exhibits and corporate meetings—including “What’s the Secret”, an award-winning interactive science education series based on the PBS "Newton's Apple" television series.  He co-founded and managed a successful software development company that spanned ten years. He has directed diverse creative teams across multiple disciplines.

Gary brings a proven record of multidisciplinary, practical experience in design, creative direction, project development, learning, and teamwork. He has worked on many software and media projects, developing architecture, interface and information design. He has directed design for projects that include corporate marketing and sales, college recruitment, science and health education, technical information, museum kiosks, technology simulations and financial visualization.

Art and education is at the core of his work. He has designed and taught both college classes and workshops in visual design, interactive imagery, and media development. He understands the creative applications of emerging technologies, and is passionate about using these tools to open new ways of seeing and experiencing the world around us.

Training and education is at the core of his work. He has designed enterprise training systems, and created focused learning and performance support modules that take advantage of active learning principles and digital media capabilities, including simulation and open-ended comparison. He has designed and taught both classes and workshops in interactive design, workflow process, and media development, and visualizes models of concepts and procedures to build rapid understanding for several colleges and universities.

Gary's years of experience include:  project management; information architecture and content design; learning, training, and facilitation; plus media and software development. Over his career, he has worked as a designer, consultant and project director - and co-founded a successful software development company that spanned ten years..

The projects he has created range from learning and marketing tools, to enterprise level training, and consumer education software. He has been successfully directing, designing and producing projects for clients that include 3M, Xcel Energy, United Airlines, American Express, St. Paul Companies and the University of St. Thomas.

He brings an integrated set of skills and practical project experience to system documentation - to create a productive, intuitive user experience - and to take full advantage of the chosen technology -- or technologies.
